Deleteing My Blog!

Posted on Feb 9, 2012 at 4PM permalink

Ok, so I am deleting this blog(Are you addicted to paranormal romance)Now don’t freak out! I will be keeping all of my previous posts/reviews, they will just be moving to my other Romance Review blog. Here is some more information on my blog updates. I posted this on White Picket Fence, my other blog and please follow me to http://hopelesslyromanticreviews.tumblr.com/

Just to let you know I am going to be posting all of my paranormal reviews from my “Are you addicted to paranormal romance” blog here. I am doing this because I am tired/overwhelmed with having to post on two different blogs. I have been lacking in reviews to post on both blogs so I figured combining the two would mean more posts for you to read and less switching back and forth for me. (So yes this means I am deleting “Are you addicted to paranormal romance.”)

This means there will me a major influx of reviews coming on to “White Picket Fence” in the next couple of Hours/Days. I am now doing reviews for Night Owl Reviews, so I will be able to post more reviews on books that are only available as e-books. There will be quite a few changes in my blog but the main idea and the posts will not change. It will just include Paranormal Romance!

If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask!

Thank you for your patience!

Book: Kiss of Midnight
Author: Lara Adrian
Series: Midnight Breed #1
In the Beginning: “…Now that she was looking at him again, she could see that there was definitely something freaky about his eyes. Was he some kind of stoner?….. He chuckled under his breath. “I told you, I need to feed”…..”
Synopsis:
INSATIABLE DESIRE. ENDLESS SEDUCTION. ONE TOUCH IS JUST THE BEGINNING.
He watches her from across the crowded dance club, a sensual black-haired stranger who stirs Gabrielle’s deepest fantasies. But nothing about this night—or this man—is what it seems. For when Gabrielle witnesses a murder outside the club, reality shifts into something dark and deadly. In that shattering instant she is thrust into a realm she never knew existed—a realm where vampires stalk the shadows and a blood war is set to ignite.
Lucan Thorne despises the violence carried out by his lawless brethren. A vampire himself, Lucan is a Breed warrior, sworn to protect his kind—and the unwitting humans existing alongside them—from the mounting threat of the Rogues. Lucan cannot risk binding himself to a mortal woman, but when Gabrielle is targeted by his enemies, he has no choice but to bring her into the dark underworld he commands.
Here, in the arms of the Breed’s formidable leader, Gabrielle will confront an extraordinary destiny of danger, seduction, and the darkest pleasures of all … .
My Review:
Let me start off by saying, Kiss of Midnight was definitely an amazing start to the Midnight Breed Series. Though If you have read any of the Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R. Ward you will notice some similarities. The characters may have different names and their may be some major differences in the plot but I still think this series runs close to the storyline of the Black Dagger Brotherhood.
Don’t get me wrong I did enjoy Lara Adrians first book, the characters were well written, and I did love the relationship between Gabrielle and Lucan. I also never guessed what would happen in the ending to this book, which is always a good thing.
If you enjoyed the BDB(Black Dagger Brotherhood) you will most definitely enjoy Lara Adrian’s Midnight Breed Series. I have found myself wishing I could find another series that has such a good war/warrior storyline. Now that I have found it I will not let go. :D
Lara Adrian welcomes you into a world of Vampires and Rouges. The Breed is the main population of vampires. And the Rouges are the bad guys of the storyline. They are basically mindless creatures focused only on their need for blood, Aka Bloodlust. I found this a very impressive plot, it grabbed my attention and let me know what was going on between the two races from the start.
Once I get past the fact that there are similarities between J.R. Wards Series and Lara Adrian’s I know that I will fall in love with these characters just as easily as I did with the brothers of the BDB.
I hope you guys enjoy Lara Adrian’s Debut book, and most of all have fun!

Book: Fantasy Lover

Author: Sherrilyn Kenyon

Series: Dark-Hunter #1

In The Beginning: “Possessed of supreme strength and of unrivaled courage, he was blessed by the gods, feared by mortals, and desired by all women who saw him. He was a man who knew no law, respected no quarter.”

Synopsis:

Being trapped in a bedroom with a woman is a grand thing. Being trapped in hundreds of bedrooms over two thousand years isn’t. And being cursed into a book as a love-slave for eternity can ruin even a Spartan warrior’s day.

As a love-slave, I know everything about women. How to touch them, how to savor them, and most of all, how to pleasure them. But when I was summoned to fulfill Grace Alexander’s sexual fantasies, I found the first woman in history who saw me as a man with a tormented past. She alone bothered to take me out of the bedroom and into the world. She taught me to love again.

But I wasn’t born to know love. I was cursed to walk eternity alone. As an ancient Greek general, I had long ago accepted my sentence. Yet…

My Review:

As I have mentioned before, I love the Dark-Hunter series and Sherrilyn Kenyon’s writing abilities. Fantasy lover is a combination of your favorite paranormal romance and the best of Greek myths.

Julian of Macedon is the son of Aphrodite. He was cursed into a book for having sex with one of his brothers future wives. Since then he has been either tortured in the darkness of the books pages or by being forced to sleep with endless women when he is summoned out of the book.

“Golden in skin and hair, and flashing the eyes of a warrior, ‘twas said his presence alone was oft enough to satisfy women, and once touched by his hand they would become blinded by pleasure.”

Grace Alexander is a couple’s sex therapist. She has also sworn off all men forever, after one not so pleasant experience from her previous boyfriend. Once her friend Selena gives her a book that supposedly holds an ancient Greek warrior in its pages, everything changes.

Fantasy lover is a book you will not be able to put down. From the second you open the book you get pulled into the world of the Dark-Hunter’s. But there is very little mention of the dark hunters, because this is the opening of the series and technically Julian isn’t a Dark-Hunter yet. I thoroughly enjoyed Fantasy Lover. You get to spend so much time developing Julian and Grace’s relationship that by then end of the book you can’t bear the thought of them not being together. Sherrilyn Kenyon has such great talent that she leaves the reader feeling fully fulfilled with the events of her books. Which of course means there will always be a devoted following of the Dark-Hunter series. Whenever you want a storyline with love, myth, and great lead characters you will always find yourself coming back to read more and more of the Dark-Hunter Series.

Lucan thought he knew hunger. He thought he knew fury and desperation-desire, too- but every paltry emotion he’d ever felt in all his ageless life fell away like dust as he stared into gabrielle’s defiant brown eyes.

His senses were swamped, drowning in the sweet jasmine scent of her blood, its source so dangerously close to his mouth. Glossy red, thick as honey, the crimson rivulet pulsed from the small wound she had inflicted on herself.

“I love you, Lucan.” Her soft voice broke through the pounding of his own heart and the driving need that now engulfed him. “With or without blood to bind us, I love you.

Fantasy Lover

By: Sherrilyn Kenyon

Man, do I love Sherrilyn Kenyon’s books! So far, Sherrilyn Kenyon shows great talent and gripping story lines. I have read about 6 of her Dark-Hunter Series already and I’m Hooked. So you can look forward to reading my thoughts on her first in the series. I only have about 100 pages left, so it won’t be long till I post Fantasy Lover.

The end of my quarter is almost over, so soon I will be back in my regular routine of posting reviews! So I thank you for sticking with me through my silent months where I didn’t have time to post reviews. That will change! I have a long list of TBR(To Be Read) books, which means there will be no shortage of posts in the foreseeable future.

Book: The Fallen: Raziel
Author: Kristina Douglas
Series: The Fallen # 1
In The Beginning: “I am Raziel, one of the twenty fallen angels spoken of by Enoch in the old books.”
Synopsis:
She was just an ordinary mortal …
“You’re dead” is so not what Allie Watson wants to hear. Unfortunately, it explains a lot. Like the dark, angelically handsome man who ferried her to this strange, hidden land. The last thing she remembers is stepping off a curb in front of a cross-town bus. Now she’s surrounded by gorgeous fallen angels with an unfortunate taste for blood—and they really don’t want her around. Not exactly how she pictured heaven.
… Until death catapulted her into a seductive world she never imagined.
Raziel is unsure why he rescued Allie from hellfire against Uriel’s orders, but she stirs in him a longing he hasn’t felt in centuries. Now the Fallen must brace for the divine wrath brought by his disobedience, and they blame Allie for the ferocious Nephilim clawing at the kingdom’s shrouded gates. Facing impossible odds at every turn, the two must work together to survive. Raziel must defend his spirited lover against the forces of darkness–because Allie may be the Fallen’s only salvation.
My Review:
With little knowledge of angles I set out trying to find some “Awesome!” story that has plenty of romance but is nicely blended with believable myths. “The Fallen: Raziel” was exactly what I was looking for. The main characters are, a more than attractive angel named Raziel, and Allie the strong, defiant and strikingly beautiful woman that will change the lives of all of the Fallen Forever!
I am always cautious when it comes to reading new authors, because pretty much anyone can get published now-a-days. Which can be a way to find new talent but you can also get the people who REALLY cannot write. Kristina Douglas is not new to the writing business, and it shows! Ms. Douglas’s writing has a very refreshing way of gripping the reader and pulling them into her exquisite world of Angelic men and woman that have the ability to change the fate of the entire planet.
Anyway, now on to the more exciting part of this review. Where I drool over Raziel and his Iridescent blue wings. First off, yes this book is as good as it looks! No, “The Fallen: Raziel” isn’t like any book you have read before. It starts with the Female lead “Allie Watson” stepping out in front of a cross-town bus. She isn’t really alive anymore but she also isn’t dead. With the pleasure Raziel ignites in her there is no way she could be dead. But I’m getting ahead of myself.
Raziel is there to ferry Allie over to the after-life but for some reason he pulls her back from the gates of hell at the very last possible moment. He knows there will be “hell” to pay for not giving up Allie’s soul to Uriel - “The archangel who never fell, who never failed, who serves the Lord in his awful majesty, smiting sinners, turning wicked cities to rubble and curious woman to pillars of salt.” The one who waits, for The Fallen to make that final mistake, which will end their existence here on Earth- But for some reason Raziel can’t bear to let this enchanting woman go.
He brings Allie back to Sheol, the place that has sheltered the Fallen and their human wives for centuries. This is where the story really picks up, the Nephilim are at the gates that guard the Fallen’s sanctuary. The Nephilim are the creatures cursed to walk the planet with a craving for human and fallen flesh. Which as you can guess causes a lot of problems.
Throughout this book I found that the combination of characters that practically jump off the page, grab you buy your hair and pull you into the story, and the fight to protect the human race and the wives of the Fallen, Kristina Douglas leads the reader down a road that no one will ever return from. I think that if you find yourself wanting more out of a book, or that you just can’t resist the temptation of fallen angels than you really, REALLY, need to read The Fallen’s debut book “Raziel”!

P.S.(I have a feeling you have noticed, all of my book reviews have been 3-4 “Fangs” so I am going to test whether or not I like doing reviews without a “Set” rating.)

Hi guys :D

It’s been a buys couple of months, and I haven’t been able to post as much as I would have liked. The reason being that I am currently in school. I am still reading Paranormal Romance, obviously :D but I will not be able to post very often, so please stick with me and be happy about the books i do post about.

(Also please know that there reason there is a break between reviews is…. because I have to read the next book to be reviewed, which usually takes me about 1 week.)

Book: Dead Girls Are Easy
Author: Terri Garey
Series: Nicki Styx Book #1
Rating: 3 Fangs!!!
Synopsis:
“My name is Nicki Styx, and I thought I had the world all figured out. Then I regained Consciousness.”
There’s something about almost dyingthat makes a girl rethink her priorities.Take Nicki Styx - she was strictly goth and attitude, until a brush with the afterlife leaves her with the ability to see dead people. Before you can say boo, Atlanta’s ghosts are knocking on the door of Nicki’s hip vintage clothing store, Handbags and Gladrags. While she’d much rather be engaging in a few one-on-one anatomy lessons with the hot doctor who saved her life, she’s become a dead chick magnet to the dearly departed, and they don’t take no for an answer!Things get even more complicated when a friend foolishly sells her soul to the Devil, and Nicki’s new gift lands her in some deep voodoo. As Nicki Styx discovers, dead girls are easy… it’s the live ones who cause trouble!
My Review:
Telling by the cover you would think that “Dead Girls Are Easy” is just another one of those books that is all about focusing on complaining, and the newest fashion. Of course there is some of that but, Terri Garey knows how to write without annoying the heck out of me. Usually I wouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover, which lets be honest I did kind of judge this book. But once I started reading it I found that I couldn’t put the damn thing down.
With characters that entertain you all the way through, you can’t help but read the whole book in under 24hrs. Nicki Styx is a goth, with an attitude. But from the first page you can tell that that doesn’t quite fit her. Once she wakes up in a hospital with a woman talking her ear off, everything changes.
I really found “Dead Girls Are Easy” a very good book. The relationships that fill the book change how you see ghosts. Some can be bitchy and some can fill your heart with grief for the dearly departed and the people left behind. With Halloween just around the corner I found this book even more spoo000oooky. It got me into the Halloween spirit. If you want a fun and spooky read then I would suggest you go get this book right now and start flipping those pages!
